Athletic Training

LeRoy Physical Therapy is proud to coordinate the Athletic Training Programs for 15 school districts in the Greater Rochester Area.

Certified Athletic Trainers
(ATC) are allied health care professionals who, upon graduation from an accredited college or university and passing the NATABOC certification examination, work with individuals engaged in physical activity in the prevention of injuries and illnesses, the recognition, evaluation and immediate care of injuries and illnesses, the rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and illnesses, and the administration of the health care system. Certified Athletic Trainers possess current certification in CPR and are qualified in first aid and blood borne pathogens. For more information on the profession of athletic training, please visit the National Athletic Trainers' Association website.

When will the athletic trainer be at my school?
Our Certified Athletic Trainers are available at the school several days each week to consult with student-athletes and/or coaches. This is a good opportunity to seek advice about an injury, inquire about injury prevention, learn how to stretch or strengthen most effectively, or ask any pertinent questions/advice.

Sports Injury Clinic
In the event that a sports injury occurs at an away event or outside of the above Training Room Hours, student-athletes may consult a licensed physical therapist of certified athletic trainer in the Sports Injury Clinic. There is no charge to the student-athlete for this consultation, and a physician's prescription is not required.
